Whales, and koalas, and platypus, oh my!

In August 2005, I'll finally take my dream trip to Australia. This blog will focus on the planning, taking, and recovering from this trip. A few related side notes are likely as the trip is not until August and who knows what will happen.

The Devil's in the Details (or You Asked For It)

The latest piece of my schedule is that I'm having lunch on the 12th at the home Diane Bell, the mother of my friend Genevieve. Diane has been wonderfully generous and I'm looking forward to taking her whale watching the next day followed by dinner at one of Genevieve's favorite restaurants. These are the kinds of experiences that make travel much more than sightseeing.

I've had a request to add links for more aspects of my trip. These may be bedeviling details for some. If you're one of those, you probably want to skip the rest of this post. For those who want to take as much of this trip as possible vicariously, read on. The following are my planned activities with links where possible.

August 8:

August 9: Taronga Zoo including Aussie Gold Tour
August 10-11: More SmartCard use (Harbor Cruise, Opera House Tour, Aquarium, etc.)
August 12

August 13:

August 14: Kangaroo Island Tour

August 15: Australia Zoo (Crikey, it's Steve Irwin, but it's free)

August 16:

August 17: More whale watching

Augsust 18-21: Heron Island

August 22: Great Barrier Reef with Wavelength

August 23:

August 24: Great Barrier Reef with Reef Magic

August 25: Platypus tour if available. If not, back to the Reef

That's it for now. Enough, isn't it?
